Witness Africa's largest concentrations of elephants roaming among the iconic, massive Baobab trees.
Tarangire is the **6th largest park** in Tanzania and forms the core of an annual migratory cycle that includes thousands of animals. Its name comes from the **Tarangire River** which flows through the park and is the only water source during the dry season, attracting a spectacular concentration of wildlife. The park is famously characterized by its rolling hills of **Baobab trees** (the 'Tree of Life'), acacia woodlands, and seasonal swamps.
Highest wildlife density between June and October.
Iconic giant trees dominate the northern part of the park.
Tarangire is most famous for having the largest concentration of **elephants** in the world, often seen crossing the river in herds of up to 300. It's also one of the few places to spot the highly active **Fringe-eared Oryx** and the rare **Greater Kudu**. While it doesn't boast the guaranteed Big Five of Ngorongoro (Rhino sightings are extremely rare), it provides a more relaxed and authentic safari atmosphere.
